Without a doubt  the most important thing any congregation can do to revitalize itself is to help each member identify and develop the use of his or her  God given spiritual gifts.

All too many churches function around the gifts of the pastor(s)  and/or a hand-full of leaders among the laity.  Today one of the most important things we can do is to get visitors involved quickly into a project that demonstrates their value as a person, and a place where they can contribute their talents and gifts to a cause greater than themselves.

It is often difficult to redefine what it means to be involved in the  ministry of the local church, when in the past it has simply meant sitting on a committee or a board. For a small congregation to begin doing what it  takes for it to grow into something bigger that what it has always been required a willingness to accept a bigger picture of what being the Church of Jesus Christ is all about.  For some members this may mean accepting the fact that they may not be involved in everything the church does when that has been the case in the past.  To others it may mean a willingness to get involved in a greater way than simply warming a pew on Sunday mornings.  Most congregation no matter what the size has some of each among those who regularly attend.

Personalizing involvement of people within the congregation by identifying each person's spiritual gift mix and then giving them permission to dream about how to use those gifts can spark new life into almost any congregation no matter its' size.
